Signature Pools and Products Fibreglass Processes

Welcome to Signature Pools and Products and our first ever blog post! We will be using this page to share with you information regarding our products and fibreglass processes, case studies showcasing some of our recent projects as well as news and information on the manufacturing of fibreglass.

sWe are specialists in the manufacture of bespoke glass fibre reinforced plastic products supplied to a wide variety of industries across a variety of different applications. Our team of highly skilled engineers provide fiberglass mouldings that are to the exact customer specification, through good design, technical knowledge and practical experience of the composites industry.

We have a range of specialist fibreglass processes that are followed to create our products, this week we will be focusing on Spray-up, Vaccum Bag Moulding and Resin Infusion

Spray-up

The spray up process incorporates chopping glass rovings with catalysed resin and sprays the resultant mix onto the mould surface, with further compaction using rollers if required. Curing is either at room temperature or in an oven, and this process can be used to make the 1 m2 double curvature panel and the 1m x 8m sandwich panel case studies.

Vaccum Bag Moulding

Vaccum bag moulding has been considered both as an extension to hand lay up for increased consolidation, as well as a route for moulding co-mingled and prepreg materials. In this process a vaccum bag is placed over the uncured laminate and a vaccum drawn with the use of a pump, the laminate being held under vaccum during room temperature or oven cure. This process can be used to make the 1m2 double curvature panel and the 1m x 8 m sandwich panel case studies

Resin Infusion

In resin infusion, a vaccum is used to draw resin through dry fabrics under a vaccum bag. Once the resin has wetted out he fabric, the laminate is cured either at room temperature or in an oven. This process can be used to make the 1m2 double curvature panel and the 1m x 8m sandwich panel case studies.
